The primary system font in Mac OS X (all versions) is Lucida Grande. For labels and other small text, 10 pt Lucida Grande is typically used. You can install fonts from a location on your Mac (or a network you’re connected to), or download available fonts right in the Font Book window. Fonts that you can download are dimmed in the font list.
